I have to say it's one of the best Chinese restaurant in The silver spring area. I grew up in DC, and this place is the closest thing to home (even though I'm not too far) I have tried so many places but this place got it all. Their wings are super good and the fried rice is just right. And the delivery is super fast. They just got themselves a loyal customer.

Recently moved back to the area and quickly ordered Andy's for delivery. Our dishes were super sweet when they should have been sweet/spicy. The chicken fried rice was good but everything else seemed to have been modified from our past experience.

The food here is uninspired. We ordered the sesame chicken and beef chow fun. I realize that this is catered to an American palate and that sesame chicken is not an "authentic" dish but it was very disappointing. I usually expect large chunks of deeply flavored fried chicken but the chicken pieces were tiny and coated in a sugar syrup with no hint of any flavoring at all. The beef chow fun was mediocre at best; comprised of some floppy soft noodles and a few slivers of beef with very little vegetable. I think with a little more effort, it would make this a decent place to eat.

the sushi was not fit for even cat food. absolutely disgusting. I spit out any i put in my mouth. the chinese food I ordered with it was decent though. but that might be because anything would be better than that sushi.

I've only ever ordered delivery from here, and never actually visited the place. But as far as delivery goes, I'm in love. This is my go-to place for slutty chinese delivery. (Which by the way is a completely different category from your authentic chinese sit-down restaurants FYI) plus no delivery charge, what more can I ask for.

I ordered online for delivery as it's cold out today, and I didn't feel like going outside. The positive points: sushi was pretty good, and arrived about 1/2 hour after ordering. The negative: I work in a Federal building and going out of the work area requires a special card. In my rush to get my food, I forgot it, but the Spring Garden drivers (where I usually order my Chinese and/or sushi) know to come up to the first floor (which is about 3 floors up from the ground floor) and hand off the food near the security desk. If the delivery driver spoke English, it was minimal enough to be non-existent. I couldn't make my request that he come up understandable. So I had to turn around and grab my card. (I work on the 13th floor.) Meanwhile, he's calling me back and screaming at me. I go down to the lobby, he's not there. He's on the street, arguing with a policeman who was writing a $100 ticket for stopping in a travel lane. (Our building has a parking garage next to it but I guess it didn't want to walk extra.) He hands me my food, and starting complaining about something, waving the ticket around. Hey, not my problem, not like *I* illegally parked! The idea was to get food delivered and stay in my building. It didn't work. We'll see if this adventure continues by food poisoning or not.

Very, very late delivery. very late when I cancelled order. Ordered from them as they were suppossed to be fast.

We ordered online last night as we were really feeling some soup! Well first off the man called my phone and said "I'm here. Come open the door." Then he honked his horn 4 times in a row. When we got our food it was totally not what we were expecting. The soups were gelatinous and just not great. The lemonade came in a plastic food container. I think the delivery man just put a bad taste in our mouth...literally.

Stumbled upon this place by word of mouth. Never ever thought I would order sushi to be delivered. Inexpensive and huge portions, NO! Wait, yes the place rocks.. The lady who told me about it said to try the Rock and Roll. Love cream cheese, get it every time. California Roll and 6 piece sushi is $12.95, which is the minimum for free delivery. You get a miso soup with this too. It's really good food and my family has never gotten sick. The down side, the free egg rolls are not tasty. If it's busy your food can take over an hour and is delivered cold. Twice they forgot our wasabi, forgot a soda, and the drivers are not friendly at all no matter the tip.. Overall I never thought I could find a place that delivered good sushi!! Going on a year with Andy's and not one upset stomach..

Coming to Andy's was reminiscent to being at daycare rather than a restaurant establishment. A child's bicycle was haphazardly lying on the ground, two children (belonging to the employee) were on a tablet screaming and running around, trash littered the floor, and crayons and coloring books were stacked onto the trash receptacle. It even smelled like a daycare. I needed my sushi fix and after living here for 3 years and driving by Andy's several times, I wanted to give Andy's a try. I ordered the California roll and salmon-avocado roll and was less than impressed. Although eatible, both rolls were on par to what you can get to the grocery store, perhaps a little worst sushi I have had in the Silver Spring-Bethesda-DC area. I most likely will not be returning. You get what you pay for.

Still trying to decide how I feel about this place. We ordered delivery from here... and probably would do so again. It had easy online ordering, was fast on delivery, relatively affordable for the quantity of food, some of the food was good, and it didn't make us sick ;) What we got: *** Whole fried chicken wings (just listed as "wings" on the menu) - the fried wings were excellent * French fries and fried rice on the side were pretty meh (fries were just frozen crinkle-cut fries and were lukewarm); fried rice was greasy and somewhat lacking in flavor ** Buffalo wings - these were what you think of as "wings" ...the short wings, smothered in sauce; I should have requested these be extra crispy, b/c they were pretty soggy; but the sauce was good. *** The singapore noodles were pretty good ** The lo mein noodles with roasted pork were just ok; too saucy/greasy; not enough flavor * The boneless bbq ribs didn't taste like rib meat; were very tough; not horribly flavorful either; would not order these again *** The vegetable dumplings must have been good... b/c my son gobbled them all right up without sharing :)

Terrible service very rude!! Messed up my order and when I called to inform them of the mistake they hung up on me twice and did not want to correct the mistake. Food was not very good either. I wouldn't recommend anyone. Stay far away from this place

Great general tso chicken wings. The platter is a great deal and the fries are pretty good. I also had the eel with avocado and that as pretty good as well. However, the next day it was very chewy. The delivery time was accurate. It took no longer than 30 minutes for delivery. All in all I'd recommend them and I'll probably be ordering there again!

This review is for carryout: Very tasty and inexpensive. I love their combo meals however, beware of the pork/rice because my husband had bad diarrhea the next day.

Was drawn to the variety of food. Ordered a little off the American menu as well as Chinese but it was not a pleasant experience. The food did not have any flavor.

Andy's is two restaurants in one. They recently introduced Andy's Sushi, with a menu of its own. I wasn't sure a Chinese place could do sushi well, but for your average California roll, you can't go wrong. I ordered their Spicy Crab Roll and Spicy California Roll. They were both really good and quite large. The avocado was fresh, which is always a plus. I mean, it's hard to screw these up. There are about eight tables, but I got mine to go as there is zero ambiance. Maybe if I wanted to catch up with a friend and wanted a place for a cheap meal I'd stay. My two rolls cost under $7. (Now through May 31st they have a Buy One, Get One 50% off deal). I will come back as it is close by, but the tiny front parking lot is a bit cramped at times. Just to note: Some of the reviews here are actually for a place called Andy's Carryout on Georgia Ave in DC (near Arkansas Ave). Totally different place! Come here for the sushi or Chinese, but not subs and sandwiches.

Good food and price! Could be a little more attentive but overall the food is good. The young lady seems preoccupied most of the time.

Ordered the egg drop soups and drunken noodle. The delivery guy was incredibly rude. The drunken noodle has zero taste (despite my listing "spicy") in nth especial instructions section just to be safe. There is no taste, it made me vaguely nauseous, and it's way overpriced. If you want goo drunken noodle, go to Charm Thai on Georgia ave. I wanted to like this as I have ordered from them before and been pretty happy....but looking back, the stuff I liked, was the American stuff like the "steak and cheese egg roll".... This combined with bland sweet and sour from the last time I ordered....means I will never order from them again.

    (2)
  • K L.

We ordered the drunken noodles and pad thai. They both were basically terrible, in the words of a fellow poster, "vaguely nauseous." Sticky, no flavor, slightly slimy even. I dunno if it's just a bad day or what but we won't order from here again.

I always order from Andy's through Living Social and Seamless. For the price, it's pretty decent Chinese and you get huge portions. My favorite thing on the menu is their sweet and sour pork. It's not too tough which I find to be the problem at similar restaurants. They delivery fast and on time - always appreciated!

Pretty decent Americanized Chinese take-out joint. Andy's has become our regular go-to for "Eff it, I can't cook tonight and I don't feel like pizza" nights. I've had both their sushi and their Chinese food and it's all been pretty good so far. Realistically, if the place claims it serves "American Chinese Sushi Thai" you kind of know what you're going to get. The service is friendly, if a little slow, and that's all you really need from a carry out joint like this. Some other deets: Delivery: We've only ordered from this place once, on a Friday night during some of the crappiest weather imaginable. It took them an hour to deliver, which was on the edge of what I will tolerate for delivery. I don't know if this is their normal time frame, but we literally live within a mile of the restaurant. Will update this review if we ever go for delivery again. Pick-up: The website makes ordering for pick-up really easy, and it's something I recommend. There are occasionally coupons on the website for things like free egg rolls and such. Chinese menu: Standard greasy Americanized Chinese. I recommend the Singapore noodles and, surprisingly, the moo goo gai pan. The hot and sour soup is passable but is of the goopy corn starch-thickened variety. The Szechuan string beans are disappointing - they taste like steamed, frozen string beans slathered in generic bland, brown sauce. Egg rolls are passable, but heavy - they're huge deep-fried bricks of meat and cabbage. All the portions are huge if you get the large size, which basically makes this place an awesome bang for your buck - I think my husband and I have gotten about six meals out of a $40 order so far. Sushi menu: Acceptable, but on par with grocery store sushi. Again, the portions are huge. All of the rolls involving the the fried panko/tempura crumbles taste stale and terrible, so avoid at all costs. I haven't had the American menu so I can't comment on that. Over all, 3.5 stars.

Andy's- my low budget place for secret rendezvous and love affairs----my love affair and late night rendezvous with egg rolls that is! LOVE Andy's! Hands down the BEST egg rolls in Silver Spring. I always get the chicken and broccoli or the sesame chicken. Whether I pick it up in person or order delivery, I have never been dissatisfied. Not to mention this place is easy on my wallet (extra star) Delivery for 1? Here's a tip to get it to your place with the $12.00 minimum- order the dinner planner (7.50), two extra egg rolls (2.30) and a jumbo sweet tea or a lemonade (not sure the price but DAMN its good!). That comes to 12.00 on the line and hence enough for free delivery.

This review is for a catering order I put in. Andy's was very helpful in putting together a large lunch order (40 people), coming in at a very good price, having the food available right on time and helping to load the car for delivery (they also could have delivered, but I chose to do so myself, since it was on my way). The food was well received by staff, and included soups, spring rolls, entrees and sushi.

I had just moved to Silver Spring, literally just moved and had not unpacked my kitchen, when my stomach started to grumble. I panicked. I knew I loved the area, but I did not know where to get good delivery. And I was in no condition to leave my new apartment, sweatpants and all. So I searched using Eat24 and came across Andy's Restaurant. They had such a BIG menu I was almost certain the food would be terrible. So I went with something generic, General Tso's Chicken. It was very good! So a week or so later, I ordered again, Singapore Noodles. Spicy, flavorful, filling. Two for two! So I ordered again-- this time sushi. Now I am no sushi expert but I do know good sushi from bad sushi. I know fresh fish and good rice, and spicy. My spicy tuna, philly, and shrimp tempura rolls were amazing (amazing, considering it was delivery). Fresh, cold, and tasty. I am sold. I would order from Andy's everyday, if I wasn't convinced that the delivery guy thinks I am a hermit. It is a solid delivery spot in Silver Spring and I want nothing more.

Wow! I always enjoyed this restaurant. But now they've remodeled since I was last here and they've added a sushi bar! Awesome! They've also joined "Foodler" which is great because I always had problems with my delivery orders being wrong when I'd call them in.

Andy's chinese take out food is not bad, but the place is filthy. I was reading another review about it being reminiscent of a day care and I have to agree. The two young boys were also running around screaming and playing when i was there. There were toys and bikes and half eaten dishes of food on all the tables. The place is really unkept. I am sure the kitchen and food prep area's are just as dirty. I will not go back here. By the way, is there a board of health in Maryland that inspects restaurants?

The wings here are AMAZING. I tried them for the first time late March 2014 and have been craving them almost every week since then. And that mumbo sauce? SON.

sorry to say guys i work at a near by hospital and your delivery time sucks, kindly understand we are on fixed break times and you deliver 1:30 hrs later which is of no use to me as i have to eat it after going home coz we are always busy.. and the quality of food is below average price is not met. taste is less than average

Joey Z was right and i should have read his review. I ordered from this place because I have online ordering but it was an awful experience. The Food was MEH and the comment about the bet egg roll ever was a bunch of crap. But I will tell you this, I should not take 75 minutes to deliver food from where Andy's is to my place. When the delivery guy go to my house he called me and demanded I come outside to get the food from his car. I refused. Delivery means delivery not meet me half way. He was an asshole. The food was not good and the whole experience was a nightmare. Save your self the time and order from somewhere else.

Ordered several rolls of sushi and frankly they weren't bad, not great but we ate them, they tasted good. I don't think I'd order them again though, maybe in a pinch but I've had better sushi. They were very warm which makes me think they had just made the rice. But again, they weren't awful. Husband ordered egg drop soup and combination fried rice. He said the fried rice was excellent but the egg drop soup was tasteless, I had a few spoonfuls and it didn't taste of anything, just water. My one gripe is that the delivery driver called me on my cell and told me to come out to pick up the food. Someone should teach him the concept behind delivery. I ordered by phone, the lady was very friendly, understood everything I said and read the order back to me, gave me the total and wasn't fazed when I told her I only had a $100 bill. She was very nice and polite which was nice. If you are a sushi snob this is not the place for you otherwise the sushi isn't bad.

Beat Chinese restaurant close to downtown Silver Spring. Vegetables always crunchy and fresh, never overlooked and soggy. The meat likewise. Delivery is prompt and the food overall is fantastic. They lack deserts and have unfortunately expanded into the realm of sushi. Their sushi leaves much to be desired and they should stick to what they do best - Traditional Chinese fare.

It 'tis what it 'tis...another Chinese carryout joint in the DMV with a loaded offering of cheap Chinese food and mambo sauce loving foods. What's great about Andy's is their incredibly speedy delivery. I usually rarely even have a chance to take a quick shower or send out a few emails before I hear a knock on the door with my order. I'd recommend the hot subs and sandwiches over the cold ones just because the bread is much softer warmed. French fries that come with the combos are krinkle cut for those that love that nostalgic, childhood throwback. I also love their beef and broccoli! One of the more interesting items that I ventured to order once was the Steak and Cheese Egg Roll. Yea, that happened and it's exactly how you'd imagine it. I told one of my friends about it and she nearly sharted in her pants. Out of excitement. Overall, a great go-to in Silver Spring for fast food. It may not be healthy, but it's fast, cheap and just what you want if you're in the mood for a little greasy indulgence.

Lots of good experiences with Andy's, especially the wonton and other soups. Food is average Chinese, but quality is not consistent. Recently had General Tsao's chicken, and it was not edible. Every single piece was stale crispy (not) exterior and no chicken whatsoever! How is that even possible? And this for a Chet's specialty that is priced higher than average. I also ordered sushi here one time but it was tasteless and the rice was stale. Stick o Chinese. Very disappointed, Andy's.....

I don't have any idea what the other posters are talking about, but this place is not good. They get 1 star because their eggrolls are delicious - they remind me of the ones at my family's favorite Chinese restaurant when I was a kid (which we stopped going to after the local news did an expose that showed them shredding cabbage by driving over it with a car). However, the rest was really lackluster. The wonton soup was tasteless, the crispy noodles were stale, and the wrappers were heavy and gummy. My chicken and string bean was also flavorless, and the brown sauce added nothing but color. The BF's Kung pao was slightly better, but in no way good. We actually threw away the leftovers, which we NEVER do. We might stop by for an eggroll, but nothing else. Back to New Kam Fong!

The general Tso's flavored chicken wings are amazingly addictive. The prices are reasonable and the restaurant is clean. The owners and workers try to accommodate. I've returned here many times and it is definitely my go to Chinese spot. The spring rolls and steamed dumplings are really good.

This review is for ANDY'S SUSHI, which I ordered via the Foodler.com website. I was not aware until looking up this listing on Yelp that it is two restaurants or that they have such an extensive menu! That said... I was excited when I first saw them appear on my list of available restaurants on Foodler. I LOVE sushi, and getting it delivered for a reasonable cost was an exciting prospect. I've ordered three times, both the first two times I ordered it was... well, not the best, but not bad either. My options for delivery sushi are extremely limited. I rather enjoyed the Crazy Roll, Sushi Without Raw Fish plate, and Double Dragon Roll. I also ordered the avocado and mango salad - which was just sliced pieces of avocado and mango, but it was very fresh and kit the spot on a hot summer day. Today I ordered the rainbow roll, bubble tea and pad thai. The bubble tea was packaged in a soup container - points for that because it didn't spill. It was... otherwise unimpressive. I did not particularly enjoy the rainbow roll. The fish seemed not very fresh. The first two times I ordered rolls, everything was cooked items, so IF I order from them in the future I will stick with cooked sushi items. Which is really not my preference because I LOOOVE good sashimi! But just from today's experience I don't think I can trust it for delivery. The pad thai was AWFUL!!! There was no cilantro, and it came with lemon wedges instead of lime. I suppose that should have been my first clue. There was almost no meat, and the heap of noodles lacked flavor. Terrible! I picked out the few bits of meat I could and most of it went into the garbage. Add to that, it took over an HOUR for the order to arrive! The first two times I ordered it was peak dinner hour, so I didn't let it bother me, but today I placed an order before any dinner rush should have started and it still took over an hour! All in all, not worth the money I have spent on this place. I'll definitely be thinking twice before ordering from Andy's Sushi again.

I went to Andy's Carryout today and ordered 6 wings with French Fries to go. The mumbo sauce tasted great on the wings!! Both the chicken and the fries were very good and stiill nice and hot ( and I live about 25 mins away). I might have to go all out and say "the wings were the best I have ever Had".

The delivery was fast, it's true. Just like everyone says! I ordered Orange Tofu (like Orange Chicken) and Kung Pao Tofu for delivery using their online ordering system. The Orange Tofu wasn't fried the way I'm used to -- it was battered and deep-fried like chicken, so the the interior of each bite was white like a block of uncooked tofu. It tasted a little bit like fried chicken skin in a tangy orange sauce draped around the neutral protein filling. Not awful, but not worth trying again. The Kung Pao tofu had a variety of vegetables in addition to what I'm more used to in a traditional chewy fried tofu, plus the trademark peanuts and sauce. Could have been spicier, but generally pretty good. They included a fortune cookie per dish and a fork per dish and used nice plastic rectangular tupperware style containers for the entrees. I will try them again to see if other dishes shine more!

Finally, a great place that delivers and resolves my Chinese food cravings! Andy's Restaurant is incredible and one of my favorites, sesame chicken, can be described in no other way than yummy, crispy, succulent pieces of perfectly prepped goodness. Aside from being reasonably priced, almost everything on the menu is a winning, undoubtedly freshly prepared choice: General Tsao's, lo mein (with its fresh veggies and yummy meat), crispy beef, among others are all lovely. The only dish to disappoint was, surprisingly, beef with mixed vegetables but only because it had cabbage--not baby corn, carrots, pea-pods. If--or when--we eventually move away from this area, "Andy" and cooking crew will be sorely missed.

Was enticed by the extensive menu, was surprised by poor quality food. Salmon sushi was ok but the spider roll was filled with cabbage/lettuce (what?!?) and fried batter - NO soft shelled crab to be found. I was duped. Essentially gross. Drunken noodles were lacking chili (or any) sauce so were more like sober dry bland mushy rice slats with oddly shaped and textured chicken strings. Essentially nasty. The French fries, however, were the star of the show. Excellent French fries.

We recently received a menu in the mail from Andy's and decided to give this new restaurant a try. We were very pleased with the portions and food quality. The egg drop soup and steamed dumplings were good, as was the crispy chicken that I had. The carryout order only took about 10 minutes too for us to pick up (they also have delivery too for those that prefer). The parking lot is pretty small for the strip that it is in, so it is probably easier to park in the municipal lot nearby and walk. Will definitely be returning.

Fresh sushi & friendly service. The hot food is good as well. Now I call my order in & it's ready when I get there. The lady behind the desk recognizes me & smiles when I come in. Nice atmosphere. Try them out as an alternative to fast food if you want to save yourself some calories - like me.

I love Chinese food. I even love not the best Chinese food - mall Chinese food is a guilty pleasure of mine. But Andy's was so bad that we had to throw it out. Don't bother.

I foresee lots of takeout from this place in my future. The kung pao tofu was the best tofu preparation I've ever had at a fast food Chinese restaurant. It was actually....delicious. I can't believe I'm even saying that, after years of blah, watery, vegetable-less tofu dishes at every other Chinese place I've tried. And the $7 large is enough for two meals. Hell, my boyfriend's $4 small chow mein was more than enough. Appetizers were good, soups were good, and it was really fast. You can eat there at a few tables on styrofoam, but I'll probably just order next time. For what it is, I was really satisfied.

Oooh, ooh - get the string beans and chicken here. You won't be sorry. Especially if you like string beans. Oddly enough, the food was tasty when we first got it, but I think it ended up being better cold. I also had the hot and sour soup. All was good. They do a fast job and it's a nice convenient carry-out spot. The girl at the counter is all cute with her Chinese self. I would come here again and do something boring like ordering the same thing that worked the first time until it ceases to work.

  • Rick S.

I eat here regularly. The food is always good, price is right and the service is very quick. I have also had items delivered, if you are in the delivery area this is also oustanding (very fast). The last three things I have had were very good (Mongolian Chicken, General Tso's Bean Curd, Kung Pao Chicken).

Just because you want fast, cheap, and easy food doesn't mean it should taste bad. Most of the delivery options around my place are pretty dismal. Either the food is overpriced, bland, or takes forever to arrive. Thankfully I discovered Andy's Restaurant. This is one of the best Chinese delivery places I've ever had the privilege of ordering from. The food is fresh, fast, cheap and tasty. The trifeca (ok I guess its a quadrafecta?) of great delivery food. I've never had a bad experience ordering from here. Try, I guarantee you'll love it.

Delivery is quick and the Chinese food is solid. Surprisingly, some of the other sandwiches are pretty good. They have a decent cheese steak and gyro.

Fast. Cheap. The BF is boring and always gets the same thing, so he is good for comparison shopping. His General Tso's chicken was crispy but lacked sauce. I, on the other hand, agonize over what to order, search for google images, vacillate between choices. And when I finally do bite the bullet, I am invariably wracked with buyers remorse. So when I decided on the chow mein it was because I wanted crispy noodles topped with chicken and veggies. I called and told the lady my order and she said, "you want the lo mein?" and I said, "no I want the one with the crispy noodles." "oh," she replied, "you want chow fun." I figured she knew what she was talking about since it was her place. After no more than twenty minutes the guy was at the door with the bag. Mine ended up being a box of vermicelli with a couple pieces of cabbage and some boiled chicken, no sauce. Edible, but disappointing. I pulled out some of the good stuff and and spruced it up with duck sauce and soy. I'm not writing it off just yet, but perhaps I just chose poorly. As the BF said, "That's what you get for branching out." On another note: the wontons were good. But I don't like the florescent pink sauce that they come with. Are there other options?

  • Tosh G.

I've ordered from this place several times, the food is always good and fresh. Oh and the best part of it is the super cheap prices. I grew in Silver Spring and I recently moved back from Alexandria, VA. I have chicken and mumbo sauce from this place and it was good. Mumbo sauce is kinda like a sweet and some what sour red sauce that is usually eaten with chicken wings and fries or fried rice. Mumbo sauce is definitely a DC thing and not every resturant makes it. They also sell American food here too, the steak and cheese subs are pretty good.

"No fuss, no frills ambiance, just dang good sushi and Chinese food. Staff is very friendly and the prices can't be beat! Recommend the vegi rolls and salmon rolls, and the chicken fried rice."

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Andy's! First off, they are FAST. I've had delivery in as little as 15 minutes. How is that even possible???!!! Most of the time, it is between 20 and 25 minutes. Second, they are sooooo nice. Sauces on the side? No problem! They are always courteous. Third, the actual restaurant is clean and presentable. Some of these places - ugh. Not this one. Fourth - the food is delicious. Best spring rolls ever. Great onion rings. Once you order from Andy's, you will throw out all of your other chinese menus!

I LOVE ANDY'S DELI!! They are so nice and always get my order right! The food is what you would expect from a carry out Chinese restaurant...but they are super fast, clean and efficient! My roommates usually do delivery and they are at the house w/in 15mins - food steaming hot - good sesame chicken, eggrolls & french fries.

Better than any other Chinese takeout place in Silver Spring (might be two or three in Wheaton that are okay). Fast, friendly and clean. Also, incredibly fast delivery.

CHICKEN AND MAMBO SAUCE! If you know what this means then you will love this place! They are super friendly and offer free hot tea with their meals. The decor is pretty advanced for a carryout. There menu offers a variety of choice foods and they even deliver tropicana's ice cream if you are interested!

I've been trying to find a good Chinese place around Silver Spring and have been severely disappointed. We got a menu in the mail along with 30% coupons, so we had to try it! We are very pleased so far... Delivery was quick, around 20 minutes. Portions were good and the prices were very decent.

Andy's is a newer chinese fast-food establishment located across from the Woodside Deli near where 16th Street ends/begins. The food is OK, what I like about it is that they have an open kitchen (you can make sure your chinese chef isn't sweating *into* your stir-fried food as I've witnessed in other chinese places), and the cooking equipment is newer. The first time I tried the General Tso chicken I was pleased because it was crispy just how I like it. I hate it when there are portions of uncooked batter that are mushy and unappetizing in my General Tso. The 2nd time it was mushier and a let down. Their beef & brocolli is acceptable but I think the quality of meat is questionable because it was chewy in a tendon-y / ligament-y kind of way. When I tried their steak & cheese sub, their rib-eye was also half inedible because it was too tough. Their battered & fried fish was crispy but lacked any flavor. I tried dipping it into their cocktail sauce and tartar sauce but neither helped. It was like they were both watered down and bland. The french fries are of the generic crinkle cut type and also lacked much flavor (not even salt). Overall I'd go back if I'm in the mood for chinese. If you like chinese food, you'll probably like Andy's.

Chinese takeout is generally pretty standard across different venues. What is great about this place is that it was open during the Blizzard of 2009, and they delivered in 15 inches of snow when I didn't feel like leaving the house. Also, they have Saturday lunch specials, which are a little more than $5 and include a spring roll and rice (even if ordering noodles). I've ordered twice since they opened (one delivery, one carry out), and both times have been very satisfying - large portions, great prices. Will visit again soon!

Never thought I'd post a review for a Chinese take-out place, but......this area of Silver Spring (north of town on Georgia Ave) is deadly when it comes to eating options, and Andy's is a refreshing change. Very good food -- the curry options are especially nice. The first couple of times, we stopped by to pick up our food -- and the place is immaculate. A very nice change from the nasty Chinese take-out place one block up the street. Tonight we got delivery -- fast and courteous. Every person you deal with here has the greatest attitude (they love to remind you to use your coupons and keep your extras), and the food is good -- not amazing -- but good. It's important to patronize places like this in the neighborhood to keep them around!!

I was really impressed with Andy's. As a new resident in Silver Spring I'm getting a feel for takeout options around here and it hasn't been too impressive to me, but Andy's was actually quite good. I've had both the American and Chinese and both have been quite good and comes quite quickly as well.

I used to live within walking distance of here, and I got on my knees and cried tears of joy when I found out that Andy's, mambo sauce and all, had moved in to the neighborhood. I live a little farther out now, but I'm still a customer. It was not merely proximity that kept us close, Andrew. My favorite part is the complimentary (and bottomless) black tea you get when you pick your food up or eat in. Nothing like hot black tea in the dead of winter. The food isn't 5-star by any means, but it's a carry out spot with a light up menu above the register, so come on. It's good food, and you get a lot. It's got the appeal of the buzzing-light 8x8 holes-in-the-wall you find in Northeast, but without the crackheads (it closes at 11). Delivery is fast and they've yet to screw up one of my orders I've phoned in. Not in the mood for Chinese? Order those damn chicken wings, mambo on the wings + mambo on the side, and if you order in the store, try to coax them out of more mambo to pour on your fries. All respect due to Chicken Basket, but their new ownership has turned their mambo into mere barbeque sauce, so Andy's currently holds the crown in Silver Spring/Wheaton. One thing: the bubble tea is suspect. it entices you with random flavors, but it's really sub-par. And the bubbles are squares. Square bubbles? That's something that should be in acid trips, not bubble tea.

Heard good things about this place and it was only a mile away so I stopped by. The restaurant has a very nice web site that lets you order quickly and efficiently. My General Tso's Chicken lunch special was waiting when I got there. It's not the best Gen Tsos I've ever had, BUT it may be the best Gen Tsos I've ever had for less than six dollars! That also got me a very tasty and moist spring roll, and perfectly good fried rice. The chicken sauce was just sweet enough, and sparingly applied, unlike other cheap places that drench the chicken in sickly sweet sauce so you won't be able to tell how cheap the chicken is. I also got a big bowl of hot and sour soup for 99 cents, and that too was quite good. Bottom line: It's the best intersection of Cheap and Tasty Chinese food I've found in a while. Give it a try.

I eat Andy's way more than I should. The food is decent, there's a good amount of variety. The people who work there are very nice and friendly. The prices are fairly low. But what makes this 5 stars instead of 4 is the location. This is the best place to eat in the immediate area for cheap quick food. Parkway Deli is nearby on Grubb road, or you can drive over to the heart of Silver Spring, but other than that this is the only place I've tried that I've really been satisfied with in this immediate area.

I eat here regularly. The food is always good, price is right and the service is very quick. I have also had items delivered, if you are in the delivery area this is also oustanding (very fast). The last three things I have had were very good (Mongolian Chicken, General Tso's Bean Curd, Kung Pao Chicken).

Fast.

I've ordered from this place several times, the food is always good and fresh. Oh and the best part of it is the super cheap prices. I grew in Silver Spring and I recently moved back from Alexandria, VA. I have chicken and mumbo sauce from this place and it was good. Mumbo sauce is kinda like a sweet and some what sour red sauce that is usually eaten with chicken wings and fries or fried rice. Mumbo sauce is definitely a DC thing and not every resturant makes it. They also sell American food here too, the steak and cheese subs are pretty good.

This review is for carryout: Very tasty and inexpensive. I love their combo meals however, beware of the pork/rice because my husband had bad diarrhea the next day.

SON.

Awesome! They've also joined "Foodler" which is great because I always had problems with my delivery orders being wrong when I'd call them in.

sorry to say guys i work at a near by hospital and your delivery time sucks, kindly understand we are on fixed break times and you deliver 1:30 hrs later which is of no use to me as i have to eat it after going home coz we are always busy.. and the quality of food is below average price is not met. taste is less than average

I've been hesitant to try Andy's because the sign says 'American Chinese' and the defining feature of American Chinese is bland and oily. Spot on.

  • Phx D.

The general Tso's flavored chicken wings are amazingly addictive. The prices are reasonable and the restaurant is clean. The owners and workers try to accommodate. I've returned here many times and it is definitely my go to Chinese spot. The spring rolls and steamed dumplings are really good.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
